Interseeding cover crops in sugar beet

چکیده

Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) production leaves very little residue to protect the soil from erosion during late fall and early spring. Biomass interseeded cover crops provides an opportunity soils fallow period. A three-year field study was conducted assess crop interseeding in sugar systems under rainfed conditions Ada, MN, USA. Specifically, impact of time, (mid-June) vs. (late June or July), four species, winter pea (Pisum sativum L.), rye (Secale cereale camelina [Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz], brown mustard (Brassica juncea on biomass root yield, sucrose concentration, recoverable yield. Cover accumulation varied across years depending distribution rainfall after interseeding. Considering all three years, above ground ranged between 28 kg ha?1 2347 at harvest. Early produced threefold greater than crops. Across mean aboveground by species highest lowest, > camelina. The yield observed with early-interseeded (13.8 Mg ha-1), late-interseeded (11.2 (10.46 ha-1) 2018, 2019, 2020 growing seasons, respectively. Three results have shown that grown will produce yields comparable control no had negative but selection planting time affected growth provided This evidence offer a good option for protecting periods systems, without negatively affecting quality.

Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.).

Creating transgenic plants is invaluable for the genetic analysis of sugar beet and will be increasingly important as sugar beet genomic technologies progress. A protocol for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of sugar beet is described in this chapter. Our protocol is optimized for a sugar beet genotype that performs exceptionally well in tissue culture, including the steps of dedifferentia...

Sugar transport in conducting elements of sugar beet leaves.

Autoradiography was used to determine the distribution of labeled sugar in conducting elements of the blade and petiole of sugar beet leaves at intervals ranging from 5 sec to 24 hr. The processes of assimilation by the green cells, collection of sugar in the minor veins and export in phloem elements were demonstrated visually. It appears that in minor veins sugar is translocated in companion c...
